A working trip to one of Kenya's great lake parks, spent on the ground with the Stand Up Shout Out youth team and the rangers who look after it.
02About this project
Lake Nakuru National Park is a fenced sanctuary around an alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, famous for its flamingos and important as a stronghold for rhino. Keeping a park like it in good condition is unglamorous, physical work, and in September 2020 the foundation took a team there to do it, alongside young volunteers from Stand Up Shout Out.
The trip ran over several days. Between spells of work the team spent time with SUSO seeing the wildlife their activities were meant to help, and the visit closed with a rhino ceremony held with the Kenya Wildlife Service, at which the foundation handed boots to the park's rangers in thanks for their work protecting its rhinos.
