Conservation lessons for primary school children at the community tree nurseries in Amboseli, led by the community leaders who live the work every day.

02About this project

The Outdoor Classroom Series takes conservation education out of the classroom and into the nurseries and the soil. Children from nearby primary schools come to the foundation's community-led tree nurseries for hands-on sessions on indigenous trees, restoration and living alongside wildlife.

The lessons are led not only by teachers but by community coexistence leaders: Anna Touwa at the Ildepen nursery, in a session the foundation called Learning Beyond the Classroom, and Nickson Seleon at the Osoit nursery, in Learning by Living It. Both ran in early 2026.

The series sits within the Olchani Project, with ifaw and Stand Up Shout Out as partners. The aim is a generation that has experienced conservation rather than only been told about it. In the foundation's words, education is not just something you are taught, it is something you experience.
