Standing behind students through the examinations that decide where they go next, and staying in their lives long enough to see the results come in.
02About this project
In Kenya a national examination decides a child’s next school, and with it a great deal of what follows. The foundation backs students through that moment: the years of schooling before it, the sitting of the examinations themselves, and the place the results earn.
The support is personal rather than administrative. The foundation has followed individual students through the Stand Up Shout Out network for years. Among the earliest were Brenda and Faith, whom the team took to the cinema in Nairobi in 2019 with their SUSO mentor Yvonne to mark how well they were doing at school. Staying close enough to know how a child is doing is what makes it possible to step in at the point where money, not ability, would otherwise decide the outcome.
Where strong results open a door, the foundation’s scholarship programme carries the student through it.
